Three Pacoima youths were arrested on Sunday evening outside the Magic Mountain amusement park near Santa Clarita when they crashed a car stolen earlier in the day and fled on foot from sheriff’s deputies, authorities said.

A 12-year-old boy who’d never driven a car before was behind the wheel at the time of the accident, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Corry Cline.

He drove the car onto a curb near the intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and Feed Mill Road at about 7:30 p.m., Cline said.

He and two 14-year-old boys jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot, he said. “He was so small he could barely look over the dashboard,” Cline said.

The youths allegedly stole the car, a 1980 Toyota Corolla, in Pacoima earlier in the day, and drove it to the amusement park, Cline said.

The youths’ parents were notified and the boys were expected to be charged with grand theft auto, sheriff’s deputies said.
