THOUSAND OAKS : Motorist, 22, Hit in Leg by Gunshot
A Thousand Oaks man was shot in the leg early Wednesday by someone who fired several bullets at the car he was driving near a loud party in Thousand Oaks, sheriff’s deputies said.
Dave Dixon, 22, was hit by the single shot in his leg in the area of Calle Avellano and Calle Olivo about 1:15 a.m., said Detective Ernest Montagna of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
Earlier that evening, sheriff’s deputies had gone several times to the 2600 block of Calle Limonero nearby. Montagna said in a news release that police had been called to investigate complaints of a loud party, a fight involving several people and finally, shots being fired.
Dixon told police that he and his girlfriend were driving near the party when an unidentified man shot at their car, hitting it several times and striking Dixon once in the right lower leg, Montagna reported. The two were able to drive away. They abandoned their car on Calle Gomero because of a flat tire.
They walked to a friend’s house and called police. A friend later drove Dixon to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
Sheriff’s deputies are still investigating whether the shooting was related to the party.
