High Life : A WEEKLY FORUM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

A competition for arts scholarships will be sponsored for South County high school students this fall by the Dana Point Coastal Arts Council. The competition, which covers literary, performing and visual arts, is open to students between 14 and 19 who attend any high school in Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano or Mission Viejo.

The scholarships will be made available through a grant from Target stores and other local businesses.

The finalists’ work will be displayed and performed at the Dana Point Coastal Arts Council’s Art Wave ’93 event Nov. 7 at Michael’s restaurant in Dana Point.

The literary portion of the competition will accept short stories and poems; the visual arts will accept oils, acrylics, water color and sculpture; and the performing arts category will accept vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers and actors. There will be a $10 entry fee for each participant.
