HUNTINGTON BEACH : 300 Teams Expected for Equestrian Show

More than 300 horse-and-rider teams from the Southwest and Mexico will compete this weekend in the fourth annual Summer Classic equestrian program at the Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center.

The event Saturday and Sunday is expected to attract more than 1,000 arts patrons and horse enthusiasts who will watch participants compete for prizes totaling more than $50,000. Competition will include a number of jumping events and choreographed routines set to music.

Proceeds will benefit the Huntington Beach Art Center, which is scheduled to open in February, 1994.

The event is put on by the equestrian center, the Huntington Beach Art Center Foundation, the city’s Cultural Affairs Division and the GTE Directories Corp.

General admission is free, and food is available for purchase.
