Motorcyclist Dies After Losing Helmet in Lancaster Crash
A motorcyclist was killed Thursday when he lost control, struck the center divider of a Lancaster street and his helmet popped off, authorities said.
The man, who has not been identified pending notification of relatives, was traveling east on Avenue L near 42nd Street West about 11:45 a.m. when his motorcycle hit the roadway’s raised median, California Highway Patrol Officer Tom Hastain said.
The rider was hurled from the motorcycle and lost his helmet--which was not secured with a chin strap as required by law, Hastain said. The victim, who struck his head on the road, was pronounced dead at the scene.
