Former U.S. Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III will visit the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library near Simi Valley on Aug. 25 to meet with visitors and sign copies of his 1992 book, “With Reagan: The Inside Story,” library officials announced Friday.
“Ed has been so close to President Reagan, of course, when he was governor as well as President,” said library Director Ralph C. Bledsoe. “And I think that his book is one of the most accurate books written about some of the decision making and some of the processes that were employed in the Reagan Administration.”
Meese, who also served as counselor to Reagan, will be in the library gift shop from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. “We’re excited about him being out here,” Bledsoe said.
The Justice Department in 1988 investigated alleged ethical lapses by Meese while he served as attorney general. The probe raised serious questions about Meese’s behavior, but concluded he had committed no prosecutable offenses.
The library is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Admission fees are $4 for adults and $2 for seniors 62 and over. Youths 15 and under are admitted free.
