Euro Disney Ride Shut After 8 Hurt
A roller coaster at the Euro Disney theme park near Paris was closed down pending a probe into a weekend accident in which eight tourists were hurt, a spokesman said Monday.
The tourists, of various nationalities, were hurt when their carriage on the “Temple of Peril” roller coaster was abruptly halted by emergency brakes after an unspecified technical problem.
The spokesman said three were still in a hospital for checks and treatment of slight injuries. The others were discharged.
An independent body will investigate the accident and review security systems, he said.
The roller coaster, inspired by the Indiana Jones films, takes riders at high speed through the ruins of an Indian temple. It was opened two weeks ago.
