COUNTYWIDE : Sobriety Checkpoint Planned for Friday
Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach police will operate a sobriety checkpoint from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday in the westbound lanes of Warner Avenue west of Newland Street.
Trailers purchased last year with grants from the state Office of Traffic Safety will be used during the operation, Fountain Valley Officer Debbie Eskridge said.
The trailers are equipped with floodlights to brighten the area for the protection of police and motorists and have booking areas for holding any people for possible arrest.
The grant stipulates that the police departments conduct at least one sobriety checkpoint every month, Eskridge said.
The legal determination for being under the influence of alcohol in California is having a blood-alcohol level of at least 0.08.
