Man Gets 16 Years in 3 Bank Robberies

A Los Angeles man has been sentenced to 16 years and eight months in prison for robbing two banks in Thousand Oaks and one in Port Hueneme earlier this year, FBI officials announced Tuesday.

Karey Jerome Long, 30, was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Manuel L. Real in Los Angeles. Long pleaded guilty April 12 to the three bank robbery charges.

He was arrested by Ventura County sheriff’s deputies Feb. 18 while fleeing a robbery at the First Nationwide Bank at 49 N. Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks, FBI officials said.

Long was later identified as a suspect in a Jan. 15 robbery at Home Savings, 148 Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks, and a Jan. 29 robbery at Household Bank, 2671 N. Ventura Road in Port Hueneme.
