MOORPARK : Mayor Elected to Local League Post
Moorpark Mayor Paul Lawrason has been elected president of the Channel Counties division of the League of California Cities and will be sworn in at the league’s annual meeting in San Francisco in October.
Lawrason, who served as vice president last year, will be responsible for chairing the division’s four annual meetings during his one-year term. He was chosen president at a league meeting earlier this month in Arroyo Grande.
“I’m pleased to be in this position and I’m hopeful that the division will be helpful to its members,” Lawrason said Monday. “This year we were very much involved in the (state) budget situation for everybody and trying to get the numbers out. I assume we’ll probably have much of that this year too.”
The league’s Channel Counties division is made up of all cities in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. Lawrason is planning the division’s January meeting, scheduled to be held in Moorpark.
