Huntington Park : Rape-Robbery Suspect Linked to Other Attacks
A suspect arrested last month in a series of Huntington Park rapes and other crimes has been linked to at least six rape cases in Los Angeles, police said.
Alexander Salazar, 31, who has been charged with 35 counts including robbery, rape, sodomy and molestation of a 7-year-old girl in Huntington Park, is under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department in crimes that include rape, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and molestation of a 14-year-old girl, police said.
Salazar was arrested July 28 after police received a tip from neighbors who recognized his photo on a television newscast. He is being held without bail in County Jail on the Huntington Park charges. If convicted of those crimes, he faces up to 150 years in prison.
Salazar served nine years for raping a 90-year-old woman in Oakland in 1980, Huntington Park police Detective Kenneth Rulon said.
