TWA Cuts Second-Quarter Loss: Trans World Airlines Inc. narrowed its second-quarter loss about 71% by eliminating excess capacity and cutting wage expenses. The Mt. Kisco, N.Y.-based airline recorded a loss of $31 million before taxes and accounting adjustments for the 1993 quarter, compared to a $107.2-million loss in the year-earlier period, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The improved operating results stem from several changes TWA made during its bankruptcy reorganization, a company spokesman said.
