Compaq Announces New PCs: The big computer maker, known primarily for personal computers in the workplace, rolled out the Presario family of PCs for home use. Priced at $1,399, the package includes a monitor, a built-in telephone answering machine, a fax/modem for sending and receiving faxes and an array of software and on-line services, including Prodigy and America Online. An official of the Houston-based company said the line is intended to tap the growing market for easy-to-use machines. He added that Presario is expected to account for 20% to 25% of Compaq’s sales by year-end. Compaq reported 1992 revenue of $4 billion.
