MOORPARK : Man Fined for Beating of Couple
One of seven union pickets involved in the videotaped beating of a Moorpark couple in Las Vegas has been fined $1,500 and sentenced to three years probation.
Gregory Allen Jones, 33, was given the sentence Thursday by District Judge Stephen Huffaker along with 120 hours of community service and a one-year suspended jail sentence. Jones pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to commit battery, authorities said.
The attack on Sean and Gail White occurred April 25 as they left the Frontier Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip where members of the Culinary Union Local 226 were on strike.
According to prosecutors, Sean White suffered a shattered cheekbone, facial cuts and bruises, and Gail White received bumps and bruises.
Another picket charged in the case, Dennis Ray James, is scheduled to go on trial in October on charges of battery, disturbing the peace and coercion.
Four other defendants pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges and were sentenced to 40 hours of community service and a $500 fine.
