ENCINO : Shopping Center to Fill a Big Hole

Share

A huge hole in the ground dubbed “Lake Hayvenhurst” could soon be a thing of the past.

A developer announced plans Wednesday to build a 95,000-square-foot shopping center on the site of a 3-year-old crater at Hayvenhurst Avenue and Ventura Boulevard that has been the target of off-and-on-again development plans.

“We signed the deal this morning,” said developer Rick Caruso of Caruso Affiliated Holdings.

Caruso said negotiations were continuing with potential tenants of the shopping center, but that the anchor tenant would be a large supermarket. The center might include a bookstore and drugstore, he said.
