A special Roman Catholic edition of the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible produced by the interdenominational National Council of Churches is to be available Sept. 30.

It has been approved by Roman Catholic bishops of the United States for study and worship services. It also is used by mainline Protestant and Eastern Orthodox churches.

The Rev. Arthur O. Van Eck, the National Council’s director of Bible translation and utilization, says English editions have been approved for use in Catholic catechism classes in the United Kingdom and in the United States.
