Police Identify Toddler Left in Store, but Parents Not Home

Police have identified the toddler found in a shopping cart in a Target store in West Hills on Friday, but as of Saturday evening had not located her parents.

Trinh Tran, an 18-month-old girl, lived in Reseda, according to Sgt. Dan Mastro of the Los Angeles Police Department. Eight bottles filled with milk and several business cards were in the cart where she was found.

One of the cards was that of a doctor who was able to provide police with information about the parents, Mastro said. Police went to a house where they believe the toddler’s parents live, but found no one home.

“We don’t know what happened,” Mastro said. “It just doesn’t make sense for someone to leave a little girl like this and then leave business cards that would help trace them.”

Trinh has been placed in protective custody with the county’s Department of Children’s Services.
