Lakewood : Hospital Adds 32-Bed Wing With Rehabilitation Unit

Share

Lakewood Regional Medical Center has finished a $35-million wing that adds 32 beds to the 143-bed hospital and creates an acute-care physical rehabilitation unit.

The 67,000-square-foot addition also features an expanded lobby, cafeteria, admitting office and outpatient waiting room, spokeswoman Melissa Christian said.

By moving the entrance and lobby, hospital officials have made getting admitted easier by centralizing services in one area, Christian said.

To celebrate completion of the new wing, officials plan a free community party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 3700 E. South St. The celebration will feature television personalities and the Lakewood and Mayfair high school bands.

As part of a four-year project, the hospital, known until recently as Doctors Hospital of Lakewood, also has opened a Regional Heart Center, with cardiac care and open-heart surgery.
