Roberti’s Role Questioned

Share

* After spending Saturday at the parents’ summit on the breakup of Los Angeles Unified School District, I was disappointed to see such a poor turnout, especially after learning that state Sen. David Roberti used more than $90,000 in tax money sending out lavish invitations.

It seems hypocritical for him to lecture those in the teaching profession about wasting money while at the same time he was throwing away enough money to pay three teachers for a year.

Considering Roberti’s recent back-to-back failures with both the Legislature and the public, let’s hope that someone more capable will consider taking over the breakup effort. Maybe then the school reform movement will have a chance to succeed.
