Share

Thousand Oaks officials are accepting applications for artists who want to exhibit their work at the Juried Art and Photography Show scheduled to run Oct. 7 through 30.

Anyone can submit entries, officials said. A panel of jurors led by professional artists will select the work to be exhibited in the show and choose first-, second- and third-place winners in six categories.

First-place winners, along with the entry selected as best of show, will receive cash awards, officials said. Some others will win gift certificates donated by area businesses, officials said.

In fine arts, the city is accepting two- and three-dimensional work, officials said. In photography, work can be submitted in the categories of black and white, color, or mixed media-manipulated, officials said.

Priscilla Bender-Shore, who teaches drawing and painting at Santa Barbara College, will be the professional judge for fine art entries. Nick Dekker, a campus administrator at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, will judge photography.

Entry applications are due by Sept. 28, officials said. Forms are available at Thousand Oaks City Hall, Thousand Oaks Library, Newbury Park Branch Library or at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, where the show will be held, officials said. There is a $25 entry fee.
