Florida State Near-Unanimous No. 1; Notre Dame Makes Big Jump in Polls
Florida State’s rout of Clemson Saturday made the Seminoles a near-unanimous No. 1 in the Associated Press college football poll Sunday, while Notre Dame rose seven spots to No. 4 after defeating Michigan at Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Seminoles received 59 of 62 first-place votes and 1,546 of a possible 1,550 points from a nationwide media panel after its 57-0 victory at Tallahassee, Fla. Florida State, which has outscored its first three opponents, 144-7, got nine more first-place votes than it did last week.
The Seminoles also maintained their hold on the top spot in the USA Today/CNN poll, receiving 59 of 62 first-place votes. Notre Dame moved from No. 10 to No. 5 in the USA Today/CNN poll.
