A Studio City man was convicted Monday of attempted murder for shooting television actor Jameson Parker, star of the “Simon & Simon” television series.

Robert St. George, a 53-year-old plumbing contractor, was found guilty in the Oct. 1, 1992, shooting of Parker, who was struck twice and sustained injuries that kept him in the hospital for a day.

After the verdict, St. George, who had been free on $250,000 bail, was taken into custody.

“We’re all shocked,” said attorney Elliot Stanford, who represented St. George in the weeklong trial.

St. George is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 30 by Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Sandy Kriegler, who could hand down a maximum sentence of 14 years in state prison.

Prosecutors portrayed Parker as a man interested solely in protecting his wife’s honor after St. Clair, a neighbor, made lewd comments to her while she was walking the couple’s dogs. Parker was shot after he went to St. Clair’s house to discuss the incident.

Parker testified that St. George shot him after the two discussed the argument that St. George had with the actor’s wife.

St. George had insisted that Parker was armed when he came to the house. And St. George said he fired on Parker by reflex after using a martial arts movement to take the gun away from Parker.
