Quiksilver Posts 72% Rise in Profit for Quarter
Quiksilver Inc., the Costa Mesa beachwear, snow wear and casual clothing company, posted a third-quarter profit of $898,000, or 14 cents a share, up 72% from the $522,000, or 8 cents a share, reported for the like period last fiscal year.
Sales for the quarter ended July 31 increased 2%, to $22.4 million from $21.9 million. Profit for the first nine months totaled $3.5 million, or 55 cents a share, compared with $232,000, or 4 cents a share, for the comparable period last year. Sales rose 2%, to $69.9 million from $68.8 million.
