Body Is Found in Apartment
The decomposed body of a woman was found in an apartment Wednesday night with several stab wounds to her chest, police said. There were also indications, according to Los Angeles Police Detective Mike Coffey, that the woman had been suffocated.
The body, which has not been identified, was discovered about 5:30 p.m. by a former resident of the apartment who had come back to pick up some clothes, Coffey said.
The ex-resident, a woman police have not identified, moved out of the apartment Aug. 31 after her live-in boyfriend assaulted her, Coffey said. He was arrested and later released.
The boyfriend, Douglas Kelly, 35, is wanted for questioning in connection with the body. Kelly is also wanted by police on an outstanding felony warrant for kidnap and rape in Miami Beach, Fla., Coffey said.
