El Toro running back Travis Harr scored four touchdowns and rushed for 196 yards in 20 carries to lead the Chargers to a 49-15 victory over Santa Ana in a nonleague football game Thursday at Santa Ana Stadium.

Harr scored on runs of four, 76, and nine yards, and caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bryan Lefevers.

El Toro rolled up 457 yards of total offense--scoring on its final six possessions--the defense forced five turnovers, and the Chargers dominated almost every facet of the game.

Sophomore Jamie Hanaway, a Charger reserve running back, rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown in six carries.

El Toro defensive backs Dan Esmaili and Jason Jarrett each intercepted a pass.

On special teams, Clint McDowell recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff, setting up Harr’s first touchdown, a four-yard run.

“The only thing I was disappointed about was we were a little herky jerky in the first quarter,” El Toro Coach Mike Milner said. “We must have dropped eight or nine passes in the game.”

Lefevers should have had better numbers, but still passed for 103 yards completing seven of 18.

Santa Ana had little trouble with its passing game as Mark Fausto completed 17 of 28 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns.

His favorite target was Carlos Moreno, who caught seven passes for 163 yards.

Although the turnovers short-circuited most of the Saints’ drives, Fausto drove Santa Ana 80 yards in 11 plays in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 35-15 with 10 minutes 50 seconds remaining.

“I’m proud of our kids,” Santa Ana Coach Bob Hinman said. “We were out-physicaled, but we didn’t quit.”
