Orange 14, Saddleback 7--Jamie Worthem rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns for the Panthers at El Modena High.
Art Bell intercepted a Daniel Ruvolo pass on the Orange nine with two minutes remaining to seal the victory. Ruvolo completed just eight of 24 passes for 93 yards and three interceptions.
On its first possession, Orange (1-1) drove 69 yards in 12 plays, capped off by Worthem’s one-yard plunge up the middle.
The Panthers’ 93-yard interception return by Jeff Williams was nullified by a personal foul, and they held a 7-0 halftime lead.
Orange drove 66 yards to open the second half, with Worthem scoring on a 16-yard sweep.
Saddleback (1-1) responded in the fourth quarter on a one-yard run by Omar Palacios with 7:29 left. They then drove 48 yards to the Orange 32, but Bell’s interception ended the threat.
