FOUNTAIN VALLEY : School District Raises Development Fees
In order to raise money for improvements to elementary and middle schools, the Fountain Valley School District has increased its fees on new housing development and home remodels.
“All of our schools are in disrepair,” said Marc Ecker, assistant superintendent of administration and business.
The Board of Trustees last week voted 4 to 1, with Trustee Julie Hoxsie casting the dissenting vote, to increase the fees on new residential development and remodeling.
Ecker said the fee increase is projected to raise an additional $50,000 to $60,000 in annual revenue. During the last school year, Ecker said, the fees netted the district about $70,000.
