YORBA LINDA : Public Invited to Charity Tennis Classic

The eighth annual Yorba Linda Tennis Classic benefiting abused children will take place this weekend, and the public is invited to attend.

The event is expected to raise between $35,000 and $40,000, which will be turned over to Olive Crest Treatment Centers Inc., a nonprofit agency based in Anaheim that provides group homes, counseling and treatment for abused and abandoned youths throughout Southern California.

Thirty-two professional tennis players, including Helen Bates, Linda Higgins, Jennifer Slattery, Dexter MacBride, Desi McBride, Steven Jung, Bruce Man Son Hinge and Mitch Bridge, will be among 64 players competing in the tournament Saturday and Sunday at the Yorba Linda Country Club.

Both days’ events begin at 9 a.m. at the Yorba Linda Country Club, 19400 Mountain View Drive. Spectators may watch the matches for free.

A dinner and silent auction will kick off the event tonight.
