PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : For Shell, It’s the Game Before the Game

Yes, he’s planning on going with Vince Evans “at this particular time.”
Yes, Jeff Hostetler is still limping on the ankle he sprained 11 days ago against the Cleveland Browns.
And yes, it would be risky to start Hostetler on Kansas City’s artificial turf.
Shell conceded all that Thursday at the Raiders’ El Segundo training headquarters. But just as Shell finished talking, Hostetler, his No. 1 quarterback since the opening day of training camp, walked past.
“Look at him,” Shell said. “He’s progressing very well. Who knows what will happen by game time.”
Big smile from Shell.
