Brea-Olinda Scores Upset in Water Polo

Tad Murphy scored with 2 minutes 17 seconds left in overtime to give Brea-Olinda an 8-7 upset victory over Simi Valley Royal in the opening round of the San Luis Obispo water polo tournament Thursday in Sinsheimer Swimming Complex.

Royal started the week as the No. 8-ranked team in the Southern Section Division II poll. Brea (9-1) is unranked but has beaten four ranked teams this season.

All eight of Brea’s goals came with a man advantage.
