SCARY THOUGHTS: The bizarre rumor of the week had it that Guns N’ Roses had recorded a song written by Charles Manson to be included on the band’s upcoming album of cover songs. A GNR spokeswoman says the report is “absolutely untrue.”

Pop Eye did get a look at some of the songs that are included. Among the tracks: Nazareth’s “Hair of the Dog,” T. Rex’s “Buick Mackane,” U.K. Subs’ “Down on the Farm,” Fear’s “I Don’t Care About You,” the Dead Boys’ “Ain’t It Fun” and the Damned’s “New Rose.” There are also two Stooges songs (“Raw Power,” “Down on the Street”) and for contrast, the Skyliners’ 1959 ballad “Since I Don’t Have You.”

The album is nearly done, with Nov. 23 set as the tentative release date.
