Alvaro Antonio Bea; Founder of Contracting Firms
Alvaro Antonio (Al) Bea, 65, founder and chief executive of three Southern California contracting companies. A native of San Sebastian, Spain, Bea came to Southern California as a child, attended St. John’s Military Academy, Loyola High School, Menlo Junior College and USC. After serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, he founded Radco Construction and became active in the Assn. of General Contractors. In 1967 he founded American Pacific Concrete Pipe Co. of Upland and Rancho Cucamonga, and 10 years later he created his third company, the Mt. Olive Storage Co. in Duarte. On Wednesday in San Marino of lung cancer.
