Executive Travel : Business Travel Notes

* Continental Airlines is eliminating first-class service on nonstop flights on its Los Angeles-Newark and San Francisco-Newark routes. Effective Oct. 31, the airline will offer "BusinessFirst" cabins outfitted with sleeper seats, individual video monitors and other amenities. Introduced earlier this year on Continental's transoceanic flights, BusinessFirst is priced about 30% below current transcontinental first-class fares.

* United Airlines and Emirates Airlines have signed a deal to speed connections between the West Coast and the Persian Gulf. Beginning Oct. 31, business travelers can fly United nonstop from Los Angeles to London's Heathrow Airport, then link up with Emirates service to Dubai.

* Hilton Hotels has introduced "BusinesSaver" rates at more than 85 of its domestic hotels. The rates include the room, local phone calls, domestic fax service, an in-room movie and free use of the hotel health club.
