Share

Adults can learn how to tap into long-ignored desires to dabble in painting, and business people can learn how to use art to stimulate sales at Conejo ArtsScene ’93.

Sunday’s all-day event at the Goebel Senior Center in Thousand Oaks will feature seminars, an arts fair, a technology demonstration room and entertainment.

Workshops will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the senior center on Janss Road in Thousand Oaks. For a $4 registration fee ($2 for students and seniors), participants can study public relations, the social consequences of art, or the economics of life as a professional artist. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the senior center.

A special seminar, from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m., will gather singers and musicians to promote harmony among the various Conejo Valley groups. And keynote speaker Gary F. Schaub, director of the cultural services department in the city of Walnut Creek, will address participants at 12:30 p.m.

Also during ArtsScene ‘93, participants will have access to advice on how to raise funds or apply for grants. They can learn about the Civic Arts Plaza, scheduled to open next fall, and check out demonstrations on computer animation, graphics and music.

Performers will entertain the crowd during a noon to 5 p.m. Arts Faire, which will offer information about local businesses and arts organizations.

The event is sponsored by the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley and the Conejo Recreation and Park District.
