Fran Carlon, 80, actress on stage and radio and in television soap operas. A native of Indianapolis, Carlon received her theatrical training at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre and the Pasadena Playhouse. While in Hollywood, she acted in films with Loretta Young and Douglas Montgomery. After theater roles in New York, she went into radio, playing the lead in the serials “Kitty Keen” and “Mary Marlin,” and later “Joyce Jordan, M.D.,” as well as the character of Lorelei Kilbourne in “Big Town” and Irene in “Our Gal Sunday.” On television, she played the title character in “Portia Faces Life” from 1954 to 1955 and the role of Julia Burke on “As the World Turns” from 1968 to 1975.
