Victim of Suspected Gang Slaying Buried

Family and friends gathered Saturday for the funeral of a 17-year-old youth shot to death last week as he sat in the back seat of a car with some friends.

Eddie Sanchez, who family members said had dropped out of high school but was planning on returning, was buried at Anaheim Cemetery. He was killed about 7 p.m. Wednesday while stopped at the El Triunfo Market on Lemon Street on his way home from the Anaheim Indoor Swap Meet.

A man apparently approached the car and fired one shot at Sanchez’s head, police said. There have been no arrests, and authorities have no suspects or motive yet in the shooting, which they believe was gang-related.
