Share

A former Oxnard couple who were indicted in September for allegedly swindling dozens of investors through their defunct manufacturing business pleaded not guilty to the felony charges in Ventura County Superior Court on Monday.

A trial for Thomas and Patricia Boyd, who now live in Fresno County, is scheduled for Feb. 28, said Deputy Dist. Atty. James Cloninger.

The Boyds are accused of selling dozens of investors shares of products made by States Plastics of Oxnard. They were indicted on 66 counts of fraud and selling illegal securities.

Their now-bankrupt company manufactured plastic souvenir boxes shaped like cartoon characters and states, and marketed the product at curio and gift shops throughout the United States, authorities said.
