IRVINE : Dana Point Woman Is Victim of Crash
A 30-year-old Dana Point woman was killed Wednesday when her car rolled down an embankment and across five southbound lanes of the San Diego Freeway before crashing into the freeway’s center divider, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman was identified as Shelby Shipman-Freeman by the Orange County coroner’s office.
Shipman-Freeman’s black Honda CRX was traveling at high speed on Laguna Canyon Road when it left the road and rolled across a freeway on-ramp and five southbound lanes, CHP spokeswoman Angel Johnson said. The woman was ejected when the car hit the center divider and overturned.
“She would have lived had she been wearing a seat belt,” Johnson said.
Although the car rolled across the freeway during mid-afternoon, Johnson said no other vehicles were hit.
