LAWNDALE : Suspect in Student’s Shooting Held in Florida
A suspect in last month’s shooting of a Leuzinger High School student has been arrested in Florida and is being held without bail pending his return to California, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman said Thursday. The 15-year-old boy surrendered Monday to police in Ft. Pierce, Fla.
St. Lucie County police said the youth, a freshman at Leuzinger, will not fight extradition to face the attempted murder charges. Neither law enforcement agency knew why he was in Ft. Pierce, which is 150 miles north of Miami.
Justin Sagato, 17, was shot twice in the left shoulder on Sept. 20 after an argument at the Lawndale campus with four suspected gang members.
