LAGUNA HILLS : Prop. 174 Will Be Debated at Breakfast
The South Orange County Chamber of Commerce will present a breakfast debate on the school voucher initiative, Proposition 174, Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.
Saddleback Unified School Board member Frank Ury and Charles Heatherly of the Claremont Institute will argue for the initiative, which would give parents about $2,600 of government money toward the tuition of any voucher-redeeming school. Capistrano Unified Supt. James A. Fleming and Michael Kilbourn of the Orange County Department of Education will speak against the vouchers.
Registration costs $12 for chamber members or $15 for non-members. The debate will be at the Holiday Inn Laguna Hills, 25205 La Paz Road. For more information, call (714) 837-3000.
