CS Sacramento’s Garcia Sparks Rally Over CS Northridge, 31-30

Aaron Garcia, Cal State Sacramento’s senior quarterback, completed 27 of 49 passes for 344 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Hornets over Cal State Northridge, 31-30, before a crowd of 3,512 Saturday night at Northridge’s North Campus Stadium.

Trailing most the game, Garcia rallied Sacramento late in the fourth quarter, just as he did last season. Only this time the Hornets made it all the way back.

Garcia connected with Jermaine Hollie on a 35-yard touchdown pass with 3 minutes 47 seconds remaining to pull Sacramento even, and Bob Bell’s conversion was the difference.

Ivy Calvin returned the ensuing kickoff 20 yards out to the Northridge 45-yard line, where he fumbled and Bell recovered.

Northridge (2-4) later had a final chance, but with 58 seconds left, a 44-yard field-goal try by Matt Ornelaz landed wide right.
