SEAL BEACH : Fitness Club Gets OK to Sell Beer, Wine
A fitness club in the Rossmoor Center has been granted city permission to sell beer and wine.
The City Council approved Fit Stop’s alcohol license last week. The action goes against an earlier Planning Commission vote to reject the application.
The license gives operators of the gym and fitness center the right to serve beer and wine out of their snack shop, where patrons often relax after working out.
Planning commissioners had expressed concern about granting the license, fearing it would create an over-concentration of alcohol-selling establishments in the area. The commission also based its decision on data showing that Rossmoor Center has one of the city’s higher crime rates.
But the council disagreed, saying that granting the license would not create problems for the shopping center.
