Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 29-year-old Lancaster man, recently paroled from state prison, on suspicion of shooting one woman to death and seriously wounding another.

Homer Tyrone Lewis was taken into custody without incident on the street near his residence late Thursday, deputies said. He was being held Friday in Los Angeles County Jail.

Lewis was paroled in June from prison, where he had served time for several offenses, including robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, according to California Department of Corrections records. He was imprisoned in 1983.

On Monday, sheriff’s investigators will ask the district attorney’s office to file charges against Lewis in connection with the death of Lisa Juve, 21, and the shooting of Juve’s friend, Diana Cross, 22, Lt. Joe Brown said.

An autopsy determined that Juve died of gunshot wounds to the upper body, coroner’s spokesman Scott Carrier said.

Brown said the shooting apparently stemmed from a dispute the suspect had with the women the night before the incident. He declined to discuss the nature of the dispute and said details were sketchy because the surviving victim was too badly injured to talk with detectives.

Cross remained in critical condition Friday at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center.

A friend found the two wounded women Wednesday morning in Juve’s apartment in the 600 block of East Avenue I. Juve died 45 minutes later, authorities said.

The dead woman’s 15-month-old daughter and Cross’ 2-month-old daughter were found unharmed inside the apartment. The children were placed with relatives.
