CS Northridge to Try UC Davis Again
Cal State Northridge will play UC Davis in an American West Conference game tonight at 7 at Toomey Field in Davis.
Northridge, 2-4 overall and 0-1 in the American West, last defeated the Aggies (5-1, 1-1) at Davis 12 years ago.
Since Bob Burt took over as coach of the Matadors, Northridge is 2-5 against the Aggies--0-3 on the road.
“There’s always a team in every other team’s history that, for whatever reason, is a thorn,” Burt said.
The Matadors will need a top effort against one of the nation’s high-powered Division I-AA offenses. Davis, led by quarterback Khari Jones and tailback Preston Jackson, is averaging 542 yards per game. That’s more than 160 yards more per start than any other team in the conference.
The Matador defense, however, is best in the conference, allowing an average of 306 yards per game.
