San Clemente Man, 21, Killed by Train
SAN CLEMENTE —
A 21-year-old San Clemente man was killed Friday night when he was struck by a northbound Amtrak train near Linda Lane Park, police said.
Jason Smith was hit by Amtrak’s San Diegan at about 10:20 p.m., less than a mile west of the San Clemente train station near the city pier, said Howard Robertson, an Amtrak spokesman. The train left San Diego on its way to Los Angeles at 9 p.m.
A county coroner’s deputy called Smith’s death an accident.
