FORMER ‘DOCTOR’ TURNS TO THE LAW

Franc Luz joins the cast of “All My Children” this month in the recurring role of District Attorney Seth Tanner. Luz, a TV and film actor, is familiar to soap-opera fans from his role of John Bennett on “The Doctors” (1979-81), which earned him a Daytime Emmy nomination as best actor (1979-80). He also had a roles on “One Life to Live” and Ryan’s Hope.”

On the big screen, Luz had a featured role in “When Harry Met Sally.” He has also guest-starred on the TV-series “Sisters,” “L.A. Law” and “Matlock.”

Casper van Dien, Ty Moody on “One Life To Live,” and his wife, actress Carrie Mitchum, became the parents of a baby boy on Sept. 23. Casper Robert Mitchum van Dien (Bo to his family and friends) is the couple’s first child. Mitchum played Donna Logan on “The Bold and the Beautiful” (1987-91).

Charles Malik begins creating the role of Dr. Ben Price on “One Life To Live” on Oct. 28. Dr. Price is the younger brother of Sheila Price (Valarie Pettiford).

Speaking of Valarie Pettiford, the actress was married on Sept. 4 to Tony Rader. The couple exchanged vows at the Little Church of the West at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.

Several daytime favorites are busy moonlighting in other acting projects these days. Susan Batten (Luna Moody) on “One Life to Live” can be seen in the Circle Repertory Company production of “The Fiery Furnace.” The play opened the company’s 25th season.

Paul Anthony Stewart, better known to “Loving” fans as Casey Bowman, will make his Broadway debut on Nov. 21 in “Cyrano--The Musical.” The play, based on the classic love story “Cyrano de Bergerac,” is produced by Joop van den Ende.

Ellen Dolan, who was sorely missed after she decided to leave her role of Margo Hughes on “As the World Turns” last January, will appear in the CBS Schoolbreak Special “If I Die Before I Wake” planned to air on Oct. 26.

Dolan created the role of Maureen Bauer on “Guiding Light” in 1982 and left in 1986. Since her exit from “As The World Turns,” Dolan has guest-starred on the now-canceled CBS drama “Angel Falls.”
