How does that song go?
Wild Thing, you don’t make my heart sing. You blew everything. Wild Thing.

I know, I know: “We’re not going to do anything different in the postseason. . . . “ But could someone please explain why Mitch Williams was pitching in the bottom of the ninth?

The Phillies may have lost the “World Serious,” as my sons call it, but their wonderful, exciting style of play and their great heart may have helped to save baseball. Are they winners or what? Thank you, Phillies.

Did anyone else notice that by playing the Phillies, the Toronto Blue Jays went up a notch on the excitement scale?
Baseball has been a love of mine since I began girls’ softball at age 5. Interest has waned in the past few years because, to me, there was no team that collectively stood for the true grit, sweat and down-to-earthiness that makes baseball great. Thank goodness for the Phillies. They have rejuvenated the spirit of baseball and have added a West Coast fan to their crew of “mutants.”

Who had to clean up the Phillies’ dugouts after Jim Fregosi? They couldn’t use inmates, because it would be cruel and unusual punishment.
