In their three road games this season, the Raiders have played before capacity crowds at Seattle (65,639), Kansas City (78,263) and Denver (75,937). But at home, the Raiders have not come close to selling out this season.

In three home games, their best showing came on Sept. 19, when 49,101 saw the Raiders lose to the Cleveland Browns, 19-16.

On Sunday, the Raiders will play host to the San Diego Chargers and a crowd of only 45,000 is expected.

Coach Art Shell said the Raider defense, which has a league-leading 26 sacks, reminds him of the Raider teams of the late 1960s.

“If I had to call them anything, I would give them the nickname of ‘The Reincarnation of the 11 Angry Men,’ ” Shell said Friday. “The original 11 Angry Men were a tough group and our defense now plays like them.”

That group was led by end Ben Davidson, tackle Tom Keating and backs Kent McCloughan and Willie Brown.
