Simi Valley’s Griffin to Attend Michigan

Simi Valley High pitcher Sara Griffin, the 1993 Southern Section Division I player of the year, made an oral commitment this week to play softball at Michigan.

“She went to Michigan and just fell in love with the greenery,” said Karen Griffin, Sara’s mother. “She came home (from her recruiting trip) and said, ‘Mom, there’s ivy on the walls.’ ”

Griffin, who is 41-4 in three seasons and considered one of the state’s top pitching recruits, took recruiting trips to Michigan, Stanford and Washington, and canceled a trip to UCLA.
