Tuesday’s Vote

Share

Orange County residents will go to the polls Tuesday to decide the fate of seven statewide initiatives and several local races.

The most closely watched initiatives are the half-cent sales tax, to be earmarked for law enforcement, and a school voucher initiative, which would give parents of all school-age children a voucher to be used at public or private schools.

Four school board seats in Orange and two in Santa Ana will be decided by voters. The only city council race is in Irvine, where one seat will be filled.

In Newport Beach, residents will vote on Measure A, a proposal to raise $68 million for the purchase of three bay-view parcels from the Irvine Co. that otherwise would be developed.

Voters will also decide seats on the Santa Margarita and Los Alisos water districts.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

The Times will provide updates on vote counts throughout the night Tuesday. To hear results of key races, call TimesLink at 808-8463 and press *1410 for Orange County races, or *1450 for statewide results.
